Designing An Ultimate Island
Kitchen Designer, Nicole Tindale suggests that before beginning the process of designing a kitchen island that will truly add enjoyment and value to your life it is essential to determine the following:
 What’s your Budget? The combinations and detail choices for your Ultimate Island are endless and exciting. The base cabinets of your ultimate island can be made of solid wood, painted MDF, veneer or “green” alternatives products. Counter tops can be manufactured in granite, wood or synthetic laminates. Cost for materials can vary greatly so having a clear idea of what you want combined with what you can spend helps make the selection process more pleasant.
 How do you envision using the island? Is your vision of an ultimate island a cooking area that is also a welcoming entertainment centre? Do you want the island to include a dining area, food prep area, bar sink, wine rack, cook top or fridge?
How much space do you have to create the island? Kitchen islands can actually enhance and direct traffic flow, and can be key to creating the “triangle”, the ideal traffic flow. It is essential that you have 36” minimum distance (NKBA code) open space between the existing counters and the new counter of your island.
Work with a Designer- Designers combine creativity with their skill and knowledge that can save you time, money and potential aggravation, because they are experienced and have professional perspective. Often a designer provides ideas and solutions that you may not have thought of, that will improve your initial concept. Caring for your Gravelle Cabinets
For regular cleaning, we recommend a soft cloth dampened with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. We do advise you allow a minimum of 30 days prior to cleaning with the cleaning solution to allow the surfaces to fully harden.
